I bought these for a trip to Europe last summer and they work! I put them on as soon as the plane starts pressurizing and only take them off after we've been flying for at least 30 min or so, then put them back again about 45 minutes before landing. Promising review: “Great to relieve ear-plane pressure and pain! I have a hard time adjusting to the fluctuating pressure on planes. Y’all, I had to fly while I was getting over an ear infection once - not fun! But these things made it much, much more bearable heck, I still use ‘em when I fly now, even when I’m ear infection-free. Get it from Amazon for $59.99+ (available in three colors, two storage capacities, and with or without an ad-supported lock screen). I didn't go with the unlimited subscription for $10 a month because when you stop it all your content downloaded under the plan is locked.” - Richard Brown I was resistant to getting one for a long time because I like books, but I can still have both. Late at night or early in the morning, I can also read without disturbing my partner by turning on the light or using a book light. I put it into black background white text mode mostly. So far, it's been great on the plane, at a cafe, even outside. I got it over the Kindle readers for more versatility. When I travel to Europe, I would typically take a ton of books. Promising review: “Great for traveling! I am using this as an ebook reader mostly and to watch movies when I want something bigger than my phone. (Source: Me I will not go anywhere I will be kept stationary with nothing else to do for hours on end without my Fire.) Get an origami-style case for it, too, so you can stand it up on your seatback tray for hands-free use. A solid tablet in addition to a robust e-reader, the Fire lets you do things beyond reading, too – like watching Netflix while you’re in the air, thanks to the streaming service app’s download-and-watch-offline feature. I’m recommending the Fire over the Paperwhite here because it just does more.
